Breaking Barriers Through English

The English language is still on its way on dominating. It is quickly spreading across nations. I can't blame it. It's the universal language as they say. It is one of our two official languages, our business language to be exact. And Philippines just happens to be one of those nations that is currently adapting and absorbing the English language fully.

Some say that due to this incident, a lot of us Filipinos are already close to not using the Filipino language as smoothly as before. They say that because of the English language's co-existence with the Filipino language, Filipinos tend to forget their grammar in Filipino. They say that We are growing with bilingual tongues. But I don't see things like how they do. I think the introduction of the English language is just perfect. With it, we learned to go further from our lands separated by waters. We may not be connected to any other nation. But with our knowledge on the English language, we sort of built bridges and set phone booths there for easy transformation and communication.

Just like the challenge of the first one, we survived the more difficult but fun trials of theqsecond quarter. The second chapuer of learning is already behind us. Our first meeting in ICT IV for the second quarter was a fresh new episode. We left the Internet topics and moved to HTML. The term "Hypertext Mark-up Language" was the talk of the town. It was an old term to me. But it has only been now that I came to fully understand the real meaning behind this.

Our fourth period in the morning became even lovelier. Our activities were at first too plain. We were to type things like: head, title, etc. with angle brackets enclosing each and one of them. I didn't have even the slightest clue as to why we were typing unfamiliar things that didn't make any sense at all. But as periods passed by, we learned what they really are. They are called tags. Soon, I learned to love making them and discovering the use every one of them. But our computer is yet to love us back. Our problems caused by it increased. Internet connection on our computer permanently disappeared. And it was not good working on a computer without an Internet connection since almost all of our activities depended on the net. Me and my workmate, if that's how you call her, had to resort to transferring to another work station. And another problem was that the our new computer had no mouse and its monitor was not functioning well. And of course, my love for our computer room didn't falter at all. It was a still a good one for me. Even when a storm came and blew its strong winds, we barely felt its fury inside. It was a cool but cozy place.

Moving on, I will do my best in ICT as it gets more exciting than ever. I'll try to do better than before and go with the flow of my classmates who are getting more serious and competitive.
